NEW MATERIAL:A (R)-(+)-alpha-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine derivative shown by the formula I . USE:Useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a pheromone of Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica. PREPARATION:4-Hydroxy-5-tetradecynoic acid shown by the formula II is reacted with (R)-(+)-alpha-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine shown by the formula III in a solvent such as dioxane, methanol, benzene, etc. at room temperature to give a compound shown by the formula I . In the reaction, 1mol compound shown by the formula II is reacted with 0.8-2mol, preferably 1-1.5mol compound shown by the formula II. Since the compound shown by the formula I has improved crystallizability, optical recrystallization can be raised easily by recrystallization.
