An automative manual transmission includes shift forks slidable on a common fork shaft, a control rod (94) rotatable about and slidable along the axis thereof which is normal to the axis of the fork shaft, a pivoting pin (90) extending normal to both the axes of the common fork shaft and the control rod (94), a supporting member (92) removably connected to the transmission housing and having mounted therein the pivoting pin (90), pivoting levers (82, 84, 86, 88) pivotally supported by the pivoting pin (90) and jointly engaged at their one ends with the corresponding shift forks, a selecting head member (110) secured to the control rod (94), a head member (110) being brought into engagement with the other end of the selected one of the pivoting levers (82-88) upon rotation of the control rod (94) into an angular position, and an interlock plate (106) rotatably mounted on the control rod (94). A detent mechanism comprises a plate (92i) secured to the supporting member (92) and has a notched surface (92j, 92k) and a spring-biased detent ball device (112, 114, 106c) mounted to the interlock plate (106). |
