PURPOSE:To obtain intermetallic compd. fibers having high strength and toughness with high efficiency and at a low cost by melting and stirring raw materials having prescribed compsn. ratios for forming the intermetallic compd. and injecting the molten material by a gaseous pressure or the own weight into water, oil or between rotating grooved rolls for cooling. CONSTITUTION:The raw materials composed of Ni3Al, Ni3Ti, Co3Ti, TiAl, Ti3Al, etc. at the prescribed ratios for forming the intermetallic compd. are melted and uniformly mixed in a crucible 2. Such molten metal 1 is injected by the gaseous pressure 7 or the own weight from a nozzle 3 into the water or the oil 4 or between the rotating grooved rolls for cooling. The molten metal 1 forms the solid phase of the alloy structure in the state of the liquid phase compsn. and forms the intermetallic compd. fibers where the microscopically uneven concn. of the elements dues not exists and which has the high strength and toughness are obtd. with the high performance at the low cost. |
