PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a main motor and the loss of a hydraulic circuit by providing a piston pump as a driving device and enabling hydrostatic driving of a hydraulic press by an external device. CONSTITUTION:A driving device provided on the outside of a forging machine is formed of a piston pump. The piston 11 of the piston pump is driven by a crank shaft 5. The shaft 5 is connected at one end to a flywheel 3 by a clutch 2 and is provided with a brake 29 at the other end. A small piston 27 is driven by a cam 16 provided to said shaft 5. The slide knockout and bottom knockout of the hydraulic press body are then hydraulically actuated in synchronization with the movement of a press slide.
