PURPOSE:To provide the capturing performance satisfactory as a matrix material for a magnetic filter by specifying the width/thickness ratio of a light-gage metallic and alloy strip obtd. by injecting and solidifying a molten metal and alloy onto the surface of a rotating roll at a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:The metal and alloy loaded in a nozzle are melted by using a high frequency heating coil 2 and are continuously stuck and solidified on the surface of a roll 4 which is a cooling body, from a nozzle aperture 3, thereby manufacturing a ribbon-shaped fine metallic wire 5. The aperture 3 is made elliptical and is installed in such a way that the short axis (a) of the ellipse thereof exists at a right angle to the rotating direction 6 of the roll. The size (b) of the long axis is so determined as to provide the aperture section permitting the ejection of the molten metal according to the size (a) of the short axis. Then the metal and alloy ribbon having <=20 width/thickness ratio of the ribbon is easily obtd. |
