PURPOSE:To obtain erythropoietin(EPO for short), a factor for promoting formation of erythrocyte and a drug applicable to patients of anemia, patients after operations, etc. in high purity in high yield, by bringing a substance containing EPO to an adsorbent to which an immune antibody is bonded. CONSTITUTION:A substance (e.g., urine of normal human or patient of anemia, or a treated material thereof) containing EPO is brought into contact with an adsorbent to which a monoclonal anti EPO antibody obtained from hybridoma cell prepared from cell fusion of a splenic cell of experimental animal immunized with EPO and a myeloma cell is bonded, EPO is adsorbed on it, and eluted to give the desired EPO.
