PREPARATION:7-Hydroxyprostaglandin of formula IV (R<3>, R<4> are protecting group) is allowed to react with a reactive derivative of organic sulfonic acid such as methanesulfonyl chloride in the presence of a basic compound such as triethylamine to form a corresponding 7-organosulfonyloxyprostaglandin, which is treated with a similar base, when necessary, subjected to deprotection and/or hydrolysis and/or salt formation to give the compound of formula I .
