Manufacture of antimony (III) carboxylates

A process for converting antimony metal to an antimony (III) carboxylate by reaction with a carboxylic acid in the presence of at least one member selected from the group consisting of HNO3, NO2, NO plus O2, NOOCOR and HNO2 is described.
