PURPOSE:To provide water-dispersible polymer particles having a large number of glycidyl groups and nevertheless having stable water-dispersibility, and to provide a highly active and stable immobilized enzyme by immobilizing an enzyme to the polymer particles in high density. CONSTITUTION:Water-dispersible polymer particles having an average particle diameter of 0.03-0.2mu are prepared by the emulsion copolymerization of a monomer mixture composed of (A) 10-60wt% of glycidyl acrylate and/or glycidyl methacrylate, (B) 10-80wt% of a radically polymerizable monomer copolymerizable with said monomer, e.g. an alkyl acrylate, (C) 1-30wt% of a polyfunctional monomer for internal crosslinking, e.g. polyacrylate, polymethacrylate, etc. of a polyhydric alcohol, and (D) 1-60wt% of acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile. An enzyme is immobilized to the glycidyl group of the polymer particle optionally by the aid of a spacer group such as diamine, polyethyleneimine, etc.
