The present invention relates to a new method for supporting a metal and/or metal oxide on a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite. The resulting products which are designated ZKU-5, ZKU-6 and ZKU-7 (Zeolite Kyoto University catalyst) have superior catalytic activity and selectivity, and also a longer life than the prior art catalyst, ZSM-34. These catalysts are manufactured by mixing and crystallizing a zeolite synthesis reaction mixture with seed crystals and/or a combination of the seed crystals and a crystal skelton which is deposited with at Least one metal and/or metal oxide; followed by filtering, washing, drying and calcining.
