NEW MATERIAL:An imidazole derivative of formula I [R<1> is formula II (R<2> is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl; R<3> is H, lower alkyl), formula III (m is 1, 2; n is 0, 1); A is formula IV (R<4> is H, alkyl), formula V(R<5>, R<6> are H, alkyl); X is halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy; p is 0-2]. USE:It is used as a fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purposes: it has activity of controlling rice blast, Helminthorium leaf spot, sheath blight, tomato late blight, cucumber powdery mildew and other diseases and is used in the form of dust, wettable powder or emulsion. PREPARATION:The reaction of a carbamoyl chloride of formula II with imidazole is carried out in an inert solvent such as acetone or dimethylformamide in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate or pyridine to give the compound of formula I .
