PURPOSE:To reduce considerably the cost of heat treatment by finishing hot rolling at a specified temp. or below so as to produce a working strain and by carrying out softening at a specified temp. or above and slow cooling at a specified cooling rate. CONSTITUTION:A working strain is produced in a hot rolled strip of martensitic stainless steel by carrying out controlled hot rolling for forming the strip so as to finish the hot rolling at <=900 deg.C. The transformation of austenite to ferrite and carbide is accelerated by producing the strain. The strip is put in a soaking put without cooling, and it is softened at <=800 deg.C. The strip is then put in a slow cooling furnace, where it is slowly cooled at >=50 deg.C/hr cooling rate. Thus, the strip is provided with quality which is comparable to or higher than the quality of a conventional bellannealed material. |
