HEAT TREATMENT OF HOT ROLLED STRIP OF MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL

PURPOSE:To eliminate perfectly bell annealing by finishing hot rolling at a specified temp. or above so as to provide a recrystallized structure and by carrying out slow cooling from a specified temp. or above to a temp. at which the transformation of austenite to ferrite and carbide is finished. CONSTITUTION:A recrystallized structure is provided to a martensitic stainless steel strip by carrying out controlled hot rolling for forming the strip so as to finish the hot rolling at >=950 deg.C. The strip is put in a slow cooling furnace by rapid handling, and it is slowly cooled from >=780 deg.C to a temp. at which the transformation of austenite to ferrite and carbide is finished to obtain a cold-rollable hot-rolled steel strip. Thus, bell annealing can be perfectly eliminated.
