PURPOSE:To output a driving signal corresponding to the new target value by detecting an abrupt change with a predetermined value or more of the target value by a target value abrupt change judging setter and immediately stopping a normal operation in an EGR control device. CONSTITUTION:Output signals of a temperature sensor 16, a load sensor 17, an engine rotation sensor 18 are fed to a target value setter 15, and a target value signal Va is fed to a comparator 20 and a target value abrupt change judging setter 21. The comparator 20 receives an actual displacement signal Vb from the lift sensor 13 of an EGR valve and outputs the difference signal V between both of them to a pulse driving unit 22. The abrupt change setter 21 detects the change quantity of a target value (a), and if the change is a preset quantity or more, the pulse driving unit 22 is allowed to perform a forced driving pattern. That is, all driving signal setting operations, such as the generation of pulses currently being outputted and the waiting of the elapsed rest time Tw, are forcibly stopped, and the pulse driving unit 22 is made to generate an output corresponding to the new target value at this time.
