<p>1,1,-Trihalogen 4-methyl penten-3-ol-2 cpds. are made by reaction of isobutene with trihalogen acetaldehydes in inert solvent in presence of a Lewis acid catalyst, at -20 to 0 deg.C under atmos. pressure. After reaction, the 1,1,1-trihalogen 4-methyl pentenol-2 is isomerised by heating at 50-250 deg.C in presence of an acid catalyst.</p> |
