PURPOSE:To prevent such accident as to burn a filter dirt collector from occurring, by a method wherein exhaust gas containing combustible dirt is cooled after combustion treatment and then the dirt is collected. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas containing ignited combustible dirt and soot are exhausted from a cupola 1. The combustible dirt contained within the exhaust gas is collected by a heating unit 5 when it passes through the inside of a duct 4, an unburnt part of the ignited combustible dirt begins to burn and the combustible dirt being kept as it was unignited collected by the heating unit begins to ignite and burn, which are pulverized by an exhaust gas flow at a stage when it is burnt out, becomes smaller and led to a cooler along with the exhaust gas through the heating unit 5. They are cooled by the cooler and then collected by a filter dirt collector. With this construction, such an accident as to burn filter cloth of the filter dirt collector by adhering the combustible dirt being kept as it was ignited to the filter cloth can be prevented.
