A cloth type fuller in the form of a horizontal, rotary drum in which animal skins are fulled by tumbling. The drum is of the type which has a coaxial centre shaft fitted with paddles which lift and drop the skins as the drum rotates. Each paddle extends the full length of the shaft between drum ends. - Each paddle is skewed so that drum rotation in one direction only causes the paddles to drive the skins first to one end of the drum and then back again to the other end. Each paddle is pref. in the form of a helical blade which lifts the skins at the bottom of the drum at one end and allows them to slide down the helix to the bottom of the drum at the other end. The following helix picks up the skins at the second end and returns them to the first end and so on. Pref. each blade is stepped along the helix in the form of a spiral staircase. - The fuller is a horizontal rotary drum in which animal skins are fulled by tumbling The reciprocating action of the skins along the helical blades ensures that skins do not roll upon each other or tangle so that the fulling treatment is uneven.
