The invention relates to a stirring device of the type which can be used particularly for homogenising liquids. The technical problem posed consists in producing such an effective stirring device involving the entire volume of the storage reservoir for the liquids. In a stirring device formed by a submersible unit 2 with an agitator unit 3 comprising an agitator 4 driven by a reversible hydraulic motor 5 and adjustable means for connecting the unit 2 to a gantry 6 mounted on the reservoir, the linking means comprise a vertical mast 7 for supporting the submersible unit 2, sliding in holding and guidance bearings 9, 10 securely fastened to the gantry 6, a bracket 8 mounted on the mast 7 and securely fastened to the rotary part 15 of the bearing 9, means for sweeping the unit 2 in a horizontal plane, the gantry further comprising a pulley block 11 for lifting the unit 2 between a working position and a maintenance position. The invention can be applied particularly to systems for stirring mud preventing it from thickening in storage reservoirs. <IMAGE>
