PURPOSE:To miniaturize an air conditioner by a structure wherein the air conditioner consists in arranging a heat exchange pipe along the inner wall so as to surround a runner and a heat exchanger for cooling along the outer periphery of a casing and in being covered by a cabinet with an air suction port. CONSTITUTION:When heating is intended, a refrigerant compressor 14 is turned OFF and the combustion gas produced at a burner 4 radiates its heat at a heat exchange pipe 5, which runs near a blow-off port 9 and along the inner wall of a casing 3, and then discharged through an exhaust port 6. Consequently, the air, which is taken in and sent to by means of a fan runner 2, is heated by the heat exchange pipe 5 and blown-off from the blow-off port 9 into a room. When cooling is intended, the burner 4 is turned OFF and the compressor 14 is turned ON so as to flow refrigerant through a heat exchanger 8 for cooling in order to cool the air sucked by means of the fan runner 2. Due to the structure as mentioned above, the air conditioner can be miniaturized.
