PURPOSE:To store assuredly the control information to a prescribed number of memory means by providing an inhibition gate at the output terminal of a keyboard to inhibit the working command input until the control information is completely stored in a prescribed number of floppy disks. CONSTITUTION:The retrieval title supplied through a keyboard 23 is fed to a CPU12 via an inhibition gate circuit 24. The CPU12 checks the propriety of the input data from the number of digits, the types of characters, etc. in accordance with the format of the retrieval title and then checks the retrieval title which is already registered. If the retrieval title is decided correct, it is stored in a main memory 13. Then an original 19 is set to a 2-dimensional scanner 18, the CPU12 actuates the scanner 18 and an optical disk device 20. The scanner 18 gives a 2-dimensional scan to the picture information on the surface of the original 19 and converts the information photoelectrically. The line information obtained through the photoelectric conversion is sent successively to a page buffer 14. The stored picture information equivalent to one page is sent and stored to a display interface 17 and then sent to a CRT display device 25. Then the pictures corresponding to the picture information are displayed.
