Assistance apparatus supporting and balancing a right or left limb in any position. A hinged parallelogram 1a is supported at one end by a vertical shaft 3 via a pivotal hinging means 5, and it carries at its opposite end via a hinge 6, a bar 8 onto which a fork joint 16 is hinged, which fork joint contains between its branches a groove 15 which is mounted pivotally inside this fork joint 16, the weight of the apparatus and of the upper limb which rests in the groove 15 being balanced by counterweights 24, 26, which allows reeducation of this limb, and allows ergotherapy exercises to be performed without causing fatigue. <IMAGE>
