PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound in high yield, suppressing the side reactions, by the halogen-exchange reaction of pentachlorobenzonitrile with a fluorination agent in a benzonitrile solvent under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective pentafluorobenzonitrile is prepared by reacting 1mol of pentachlorobenzonitrile with 5-10mol of a fluorination agent, especially potassium fluoride, in a benzonitrile solvent at 270-400 deg.C, preferably 300-350 deg.C under autogeneous pressure, i.e. about 6.5kg/cm<2>-12.0kg/cm<2> for 2-48hr, if necessary in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst such as crown compound, polyethylene glycol, etc. |
