发明名称 THERMOCHEMICAL PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN
摘要 PURPOSE:To carry out thermochemical production of hydrogen and oxygen from water, at a low cost, by using a specific material as a raw material, and treating the material with a reactor comprising a solid-phase reactor, a thermal cracking reactor for gas, and a gas separation reactor. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a mixture of H2SO4 and HI discharged from the gas separation reactor C is fed to the solid-phase reactor A containing MgO, and made to react with each other to produce an aqueous solution of a mixture of MgSO4 and MgI2. The reactor A is heated by a heating furnace 8 at 400 deg.C to effect the evaporation of water and the hydrolysis of MgI2. A gaseous mixture of HI and H2O discharged from the reactor A is introduced through the connection pipe 11 into the reactor B for thermal cracking of gas, and thermally cracked to a gaseous mixture of H2, I2, HI and H2O. The gaseous mixture is introduced into the reactor C to condense I2, HI and H2O in the form of a solution, and at the same time, to separate and recover H2 from the reactor C. The reactor A is heated further to decompose the residual MgSO4 to MgO and SO3, and the SO3 is decomposed in the reactor B into SO2 and O2. The decomposed mixture is introduced into the solution of HI, I2 and H2O and separated into a liquid mixture of H2SO4-HI and gaseous O2.
