A process of hard firing green pellets on a pellet-firing machine in which hot gases are passed through the pellet bed and the pellets are first dried im a drying zone with downwardly flowing gases, characterized in that drying is effected in a first stage with hot gases at 60 to 180 degrees C and the temperature of the hot gases is then increased to 280 to 400 degrees C within 2 to 5 minutes. |
