Cavity-forming wound dressing for the ambulant treatment of the wound space climate dressing

The ambulant treatment of defect wounds with the usual ointment dressings may be associated with disadvantages that delay healing due to inadequate protection with tenderness, sticking of the dressing with scab and obstructed entry of air. Previous patents relating to formation of a vault over the wound with venting and drainage are extended by the "wound space climate dressing" in two healing-promoting fields outside traditional medicine: 1. The dressing part forming a vault over the wound is a lattice permeable to ethereal phytoactive substances emerging from an impregnated support. At the same time, the air of the wound space climate serves as the transport medium for the gaseous molecules of the healing-promoting substances down into the depth of the wound. 2. The vaulting lattice of an electrically conductive material, connected to a low-voltage current source, forms an ionosphere for the wound in order to meet the presumably increased demand for positive ions for cell regeneration and sterility. The atmospherically electric constant field thus formed makes it impossible for pathogenic organisms to stay alive. Bacilli tetani, in particular, are prevented from producing neurotoxins, which are produced on exclusion of air, before they are killed by the leucocytes, under certain circumstances without prophylactic immunisation. The "wound space climate dressing" appears suitable for ambulant treatment in areas without the latest medical equipment where natural healing methods must be improvised in order to be effective.
