PURPOSE:To efficiently grind a material which is hard to be ground by utilizing an electric discharge operation besides an electrolytic operation and a mechanical grinding operation. CONSTITUTION:The moment a workpiece M is brought in contact with the conductive zones B of a grind wheel A, electrolysis takes place on the workpiece M surface, which is turned into metal ion and starts to melt. And, since the grinding zones C of the grind wheel A passes over it immediately after this, the grains will grind off the melted part and oxydized film, thereby enabling electrolytic machining with a small current. The conductive zones B exist discontinuously. Therefore the conductive zones B are momentarily brought in contact with and separated from the workpiece M, electric discharge due to charging and pulse current takes place, sparks fly between the both, and electric discharge machining is carried out. |
