In a drive apparatus for kitchen tools, such as circular knife, whisk, dough stirrer or the like, the drive motor (7) is accommodated in a rod-type housing (1), and a coupling device allows the kitchen tools to be exchanged. In order to be able to couple tools which are driven at different rotational speeds onto a drive apparatus, the drive motor (7) is connected to a high-speed and a low-speed drive shaft (17 and 30). Both drive shafts are expediently operated at the same time, and planetary gear systems are provided to achieve the different operating speeds. To facilitate the coupling of the kitchen tools onto the drive apparatus, the housing (1) has a plug-on cone (35) on the plugging-on side and each kitchen tool has a covering sleeve which is self-locking with the plug-on cone. <IMAGE>
