PURPOSE:To provide a noncariogenic composition and drink effective to prevent or suppress the human dental caries induced by Streptococcus mutans. CONSTITUTION:A mutant of human Streptococcus mutans having a bioactivity to specifically suppress the proliferation of Streptococcus mutans having caries- inducing activity and essentially devoid of the activity to induce the caries in human oral cavity, e.g. Streptococcus mutans TMD-NC KUME (FERM-P No.6879) which is a wild strain separated from the human oral cavity, or a weakly toxic K-III strain of Streptococcus mutans (FERM-P No.6314) prepared artificially from a wild strain having caries-inducing activity and separated from the human oral cavity, are subjected to pure cultivation, and the produced living bacterial cells are dispersed in a liquid carrier together with living cells of known lactobacillus. |
