<p>PURPOSE:To make a pad clearance adjustable automatically, by releasing the engagement between a bolt head and a pusher with a bolt and a nut for adjustment moved following the movement of a piston, while adjusting the pad clearance with a spring and a thrust bearing in combination. CONSTITUTION:With a compressed fluid being fed, a piston 30 moves to the right, while a caliper 28 moves to the left, forcibly pressing both pads 26 and 24 to a disc rotor 22, thus braking takes place. At this time, also an adjusting nut 36 and an adjusting bolt 38 both are moved to the right whereby friction engagement between a head 38a and a taper hole 44b of a pusher 44 is set free, and the bolt 38 moves to the left according to friction between both these pads 24 and 26 while rotating to the nut, thus a pad clearance is adjusted. On the other hand, in time of releasing the compressed fluid, the piston 30 moves to the left whereby the bolt 38 and the nut 36 both move to the left as well but at this time, the head 38a and the taper hole 44b engage with each other by means of friction so that rotation of the adjusting bolt 38 is checked. Doing like this, the number of parts items for a parking brake mechanism inside a cylinder is reduced and air-bleeding properties can be improved in addition.</p> |
