An X-ray tube with microfocus has a target with a surface which is arranged essentially at right angles to the direction of the electron beam at the focus point and is curved in a convex manner uniformly or non-uniformly. In consequence, the focus is, in practice, reduced in size and, in addition, an improved radiation intensity is made possible. <IMAGE>
