Drive with a hydrostatic motor, connected coaxially to the shaft of which are a pinion and a friction brake, and with a housing which surrounds the gear mechanism to which the pinion belongs, a multi-plate brake being used as the friction brake, the said brake being arranged within the housing, in which, in the axial direction of the brake, an opening is provided which is closed by a cover and through which the brake is accessible after removal of the cover.
