PURPOSE:To occlude hydrogen gas in hydrogen gas occlusion alloy in high occlusion efficiency, by transferring the hydrogen occlusion alloy between containers using hydrogen gas as carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:The bottom of the upper tank 1 is connected with the top of the lower tank 2 through the valve 3, and the upper part of the upper tank 1 is connected with the lower part of the lower tank 2 through the valve 4. The top of the upper tank 1 is connected through the filter 5 and the compressor 6 to the upper part of the lower tank 2. The valve 3 is closed, the valve 4 is opened, and hydrogen gas is pressed into the lower tank 2 containing hydrogen occlusion alloy with the compressor 6. The hydrogen occlusion alloy is transferred to the upper tank 1 through the valve 4 by aid of the hydrogen gas as carrier gas, and the hydrogen gas is filtered with the filter 5 to remove powdery alloy and returned to the compressor 6. Thereafter, the valve 4 is closed, the valve 3 is opened, and the alloy is dropped from the tank 1 to the tank 2 by gravity. Hydrogen gas contacted with the alloy in the course of transfer of the alloy can be occluded in the alloy in high efficiency.
