Process for preparing 17 alpha-ethinyl-17 beta-trifluoroacetoxygon-4-ene-3-one derivatives having the general formula (I) see diagramm : EP0063369,P6,F1 wherein R1 represents a methyl or ethyl radical, R2 means hydrogen or a methyl radical and the dotted lines (----) represent further chemical bonds optionally present, characterized in that one reacts 17 alpha-ethinyl-17 beta-hydroxygon-4-ene-3-one derivatives having the general formula (II) see diagramm : EP0063369,P6,F2 wherein R1 and R2 as well as the dotted lines are as above defined under anhydrous conditions in the presence of 1 or more acid-binding agent(s) with at least the equimolar amount of trifluoroacetic anhydride.
