A vessel for molten metal which is lined with a moulding which comprises from 65 to 85% by weight of a magnesia aggregate or a mixture wherein said magnesia aggregate is added with at least one of less than 7% by weight of an adiabatic aid and less than 5% by weight of an organic fibrous material, said magnesia aggregate or mixture being added with a 10 to 30% by weight of hydrating inorganic material, and said moulding having the bulk density in the range 1.5 to 2.0 and the porosity in the range 25 to 50%. |
