PURPOSE:To make it possible to print a character or an oblique character having a different size, by respectively arranging a plurality of lines each comprising a plurality of heat generating elements arranged at predetermined pitches at angles different with respect to the moving direction of a head. CONSTITUTION:One of line driving terminals 1A-1E is selected corresponding to the inclination angle of an oblique character to be printed and voltage sufficient to generate heat from a heat generating resistor R is applied to the selected one through line driving wirings 3A-3E. At the same time, the selective voltage OV from a character pattern generator is applied to element driving terminals 21- 2n and a current is supplied to the heat generating resistor R through a diode D to print the oblique character. On the other hand, when a max. character is printed, the line driving terminal 1A is selected while, when a next smaller character is printed, the line driving terminal 1B is selected and the element driving terminals 21-2n are successively selected to perform printing. By this mechanism, the oblique characters or the characters having a different size can be printed without providing a separate heat sensitive head by a single character pattern generator. |
