PURPOSE:To utilize an electromagnetic wave, etc. for sure measurement of the shape at which a charge is piled by providing a slit-shaped notch in a part of a movable armor plate at the position where the irradiation of the electromagnetic wave or the photodetection of the reflected wave is obstructed. CONSTITUTION:This device constructed to determine the distance from a reference level to the surface of a charge by irradiating a laser beam 7 from a light projector 9 to the surface 20 of the charge in a furnace while controlling the irradiating angle of the laser beam and detecting the reflected light thereof. If a movable armor plate (MA) is in the standby state near the inside wall of the furnace, the tension of a wire 15 acts to open a plate 13 for preventing the charge from scattering and the route for the laser beam is assured in this state. On the other hand, the MA is titled to the axial center side of the furnace via a shaft 23 to slacken the wire 15 in the case of charging the charge into the furnace. The plate 13 is then turned and a notch 14 is closed. The jumping-out of the charge from the notch 14 is thus prevented even if the charge collides against the MA. |
