PURPOSE:To attain to prolong the life of a built-in battery, by supplying power to a water leak detecting apparatus only during the night wherein the water leak detecting function of a water pipe is operated. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of a sensor 1 which is provided in a pipeline and detects the variation of water pressure caused by the water leak sound propagating through the pipeline as a minute water pressre variation wave is inputted to a discrimination circuit 3 while receiving a gain of about 100dB by an amplifier circuit 2 and only a signal with judge reference voltage egamma or more. A clock circuit 4 outputs a set signal and a reset signal to flip-flops F, F at a set arbitrary time. The flip-flops F, F store a logic [1] state from the input time of the set signal to the input time of the reset signal and, at this time, a relay Ry is brought to an exciting state while relay contacts C1, C2, C3 are closed and a power source 6 is connected to the amplifier circuit 2 and the discriminating circuit 3 to supply power thereto.
