MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To provide a mold for continuous casting which decreases man-hour for cutting and reduces the cost of production by attaching seats having good heat conductivity by diffusion welding to a thin copper plate and bolting a backup plate thereto. CONSTITUTION:A seat 4 made of the same material as the material of a thin copper plate 1 of about <=15mm. thickness or a material having good heat conductivity is provided by diffusion joining to the plate 1. The seat 4 is threaded and a backup plate 3 made of a stainless steel 3 is coupled thereto by making use of a bolt 5 to couple a mold plate. The four sides of the plate are matched so as to position the plate 1 on the inside surface and the seams thereof are sealed by means of O-rings 9, etc. thereby forming a mold for continuous casting. An electromagnetic stirring effect is increased by such mold.
