PURPOSE:To enable position detection of work regardless of its material difference by displacing a position detecting unit provided opposedly with a plurality of pairs of light sources and light receivers and computing a position of a surface to be detected of a work based upon outputs delivered from the light receivers. CONSTITUTION:A position detecting unit is constructed by providing, on light- source mounting bench 3 and ligh-receiver bench 4, light-sources 1a and 1b and light-receivers 2a and 2b respectively in such a way that these optical elements face each other. The position detecting unit is allowed to displace towards the work by a driving system and outputs then of the light-receivers 2a and 2b are delivered to a micro-computer 9 through an interface 8 as inputs and the position of surface to be detected of the work is obtained by computation. |
