PURPOSE:A copolymer excellent in impact resistance, thermal shrinkage resistance, stretchability, and rigidity, prepared by copolymerizing propylene with an alpha-olefin of the specified number of carbon atoms and having specified stereoregularity. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of propylene with a 5-20 C alpha-olefin (e.g., 4-methyl- 1-pentene or 1-decene) wherein the alpha-olefin content (ac) is 0.1-1.5mol% and the isotacticity value (Iso) is in the range of formula I when ac is in the range of 0.1<=ac<=0.2mol%, or in the range of formula II when ac is in the range of 0.2< ac<=1.5mol%. When the copolymer has an alpha-olefin monomer content in the above range and an Iso in the range of the formulas, it can show excellent rigidity, stretchability and impact resistance. This copolymer has a variety of uses including stretch tapes, packaging films, and containers.
