METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WALKING BEAM IN WALKING BEAM TYPE HEATING FURNACE

PURPOSE:To heat uniformly a material to be heated and to prevent the generation of skid marks by moving walking beams by a prescribed distance when the waiting time of the walking beams for discharging attains a prescribed time or longer. CONSTITUTION:A walking beam type heating furnace conveys a material 3 to be heated by the cooperation of stationary beams 1 and walking beams 2. The material 3 in such furnace is heated to a prescribed temp. by a timer 8 of a device 7 for controlling conveyance and then a waiting time (ti) for discharging after the intended time for discharging to be inputted separately is measured. The preset one cycle time (ts) for conveyance of the beams 2 is compared with said (ti) in a conveyance controller 9. A command signal is fed from the controller 9 to a conveyance driving device 6 at the point of the time when the (ti) is twice longer than the (ts) so that the beams 2 are conveyed by as much as one cycle for conveyance. The beams 2 are returned to the home position in the same way as mentioned above when the time tA measured with the timer 8 attains the prescribed time.
