PURPOSE:To provide a titled furnace which heats effectively the entire part of the furnace inside and can prevent cooling down of a hearth by constituting in such a manner that the furnace consists of a preliminary reduction furnace and a melt reduction furnace having rectangular cross-sectional shapes and preliminarily reduced ore is blown together with high temp. air through plural furnaces into the melt reduction furnace. CONSTITUTION:Powdery and granular ore contg. metallic oxide is fed through an ore feed port 1 into a preliminary reduction furnace 2 of a producing furnace for a molten metal and the reducing gas of a high temp. generated in a melt reduction furnace 3 is introduced from a discharging port 4 through an introducing port 5 into said furnace where the ore is preliminarily reduced. The resulting preliminarily reduced ore is blown, from a discharging port 6 through >=2 stages of plural tuyeres 8, 8' provided to the lower part of the furnace 3 together with the high temp. air generated in a gas heating furnace 11 into the furnace. The molten metal obtd. by the melt reduction is taken out through a tap hole 10. The respective furnaces mentioned above are formed to rectangular cross-sectional shapes to make the device compact. The tuyeres 8, 8' are provided in the longer direction of the rectangular shape to effectively act the heat to the central part of the furnace, thereby reventing cooling down of the hearth. |
