PURPOSE:To prevent sedimentation and agglomeration of a solid and to enhance controllability for handling slurry fuel, by keeping concn. of the solid in the slurry fuel high during storage and low during combustion. CONSTITUTION:Coal 1 is mixed with water 2 in a slurrying apparatus 3 and the obtd. slurry 4 of solid concn. >= about 74% and viscosity >= about 2,000cP is temporarily stored in a storage means 5. Then the high-concn. slurry 4 is sent from the storage means 5 through a transportation means 6 to a storage means 7. After the slurry is reduced to about 74% in solid concn. and to not more than about 2,000cp in viscosity, the obtd. low-concn. slurry 9 is supplied through a burner 10 to a combustion apparatus 11.
