PURPOSE:To simply and without fail synthesize an alkali titanate type ion exchange material having high cation exchange capacity, by removing alkali from alkali titanate having a laminar crystal structure represented by a specific formula by treating the same with an acid. CONSTITUTION:Alkali titanate having a laminar crystal structure represented by the formula A2TinO2n+1 (wherein A is an alkali metal an n is 3 or 4) is treated with an acid to remove alkali to obtain an ion exchange material having high cation exchange capacity. By employing this method, a complicated process becomes unnecessary and alkali titanate having high cation exchange capacity can be surely synthesized by such simple operation that the above mentioned alkali titanate is treated only by the acid to remove alkali therefrom. In addition, this ion exchange material is enabled, for example, in utilization to ion exchange reaction at a high temp. or in the presence of radioactive rays. |
