PURPOSE:To manufacture a brittle steel strip efficiently in low cost by sticking a material having material quality equivalent to mild steel on the width end faces of a slab and removing the material after rolling is performed. CONSTITUTION:A mild steel sheet T is fixed by welding W to both end faces of a slab S, at the inlet side of a slab heating furnace. The slab S is heated thereafter and is successively rough rolled and finish rolled by a hot tandem mill. Next, the rolled sheet is rolled by a cold tandem mill without being broken after removing its mill scale through a pickling process. A coil after cold rolling is passed through a slitting line to slit both end parts of the sheet width, thereby obtaining a steel strip by removing the mild steel sheets sticking to both end parts of the sheet width. |
