PURPOSE:To raise sensitivity and to prevent fog by treating monodispersed silver halide emulsion contg. silver halide grains with a solvent after forming said grains so as not to change the shapes of said grains, then, desalting and chemically aging them. CONSTITUTION:A monodispersed silver halide emulsion having cubic crystals and/or tetradecahedral crystals is treated with a silver halide solvent so as substantially not to change the shapes of said grains, and then, desalted and chemically aged. Said silver halide grains in said emulsion treated with the solvent are preferably composed of cubic or tetradecahedral crystals. The silver halide solvents usable in this invention are enumerated as follows: org. thioethers, thiourea derivatives, imidazoles, etc. The photosensitive silver halide emulsion thus obtained is high in sensitivity and low in fog due to pressure, friction, etc. |
