PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive emulsion high in sensitivity and low in fog due to pressure, friction, etc. by incorporating silver halide grains in monodispersion having slightly round vertices of each crystal face of each cubic crystal or each octagonal or triangular crystal face of each tetradecahedron crystal in a silver halide emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive emulsion contains monodispersed silver halide grains having slightly round vertices of each crystal face of each cubic crystal, or each octagonal or triangular crystal face of each tetradecahedral crystal. The vertices of the crystal faces of said crystals are slightly rounded by treating them with a silver halide solvent after forming said crystals, then freed of salts, and chemically aged. Silver halide grains having said tetradecahedral crystals consists chiefly of (100) crystal faces, i.e. apparently of octagons and triangles. A silver halide emulsion high in sensitivity and low in fog can thus be obtained. |
