Sleeper blocks and rails for a railway track are replaced in an essentially continuous operation by using a rail-mounted vehicle 30 with front wheels 30a which run on the original track 1 and rear wheels 30b which run on the newly laid track 2. After the front wheels have passed, original rails are moved aside and old sleeper blocks 3 and ballast material are ploughed up in order to create a fundamentally plane foundation surface 41 for new sleeper blocks 4. By means of a transfer wheel 42 and a laying wheel 46, these are made, before laying, to pass along an S-shaped path and are laid towards the rear in relation to the direction of movement of the rail-mounted vehicle 30, so that, at the moment of laying, they have essentially zero speed in relation to the surface. Ploughed-up ballast material is dealt with by a conveying arrangement 55 and is fed down between the sleeper blocks during their passage along the path. During the laying operation, the sleeper blocks are guided accurately in the lateral direction, by virtue of which subsequent laying and anchoring of new rails 2 is made easier. After the rail-mounted vehicle has passed, the track is ready to be used to the full extent. <IMAGE> |
