PURPOSE:To obtain a document processor with quick response and high operability by arranging only necessary pages without arranging the whole pages so that the format can be changed at an optional point of time. CONSTITUTION:Only necessary pages are arranged without arranging the whole pages to change the format at an optional point of time. If composition data in the current page are more or less than the prescribed character data volume in a page when the page indicated by a value C of an access page register 8 is to be edited after editing the page indicated by a value P of a current page register 9, the pages of the document arranged at first and then the page indicated by the value C is displayed to execute the editing. Subsequently, the values P and C, the value N of the succeeding page register 10 and the value T of a final page register 7 are compared by a comparator 13 to define the page to be arranged. The document data in the defined page are read out from an external storage device 1 and the page are arranged through a text buffer 2 or the like.
