The sound-damping element (1), partic. for a partition in a ship, comprises at least three layers (3-5). The outer layers (3,5) pref. consist of rock-wool. The intermediate layer(s) (4) consist(s) of glass wool. The outer layers contain (pref. steel) U-sections (6-11) which pref. extend over the entire length of the element and have their flanges pressed into the layers (3,5), such that their webs are flush with a surface of the respective layer. SUccessive sections may have their webs flush with alternate surfaces of the respective layer.
